On February 16, 2022, the National Institute of Metrology, Standardization and Industrial Quality (INMETRO) of Brazil promulgated ORDINANCE No. 69, which replaces the original regulations 389/2014 and 143/2015. This regulation stipulates that all LED light source products entering the Brazilian market are required to pass the INMETRO certification and be registered. Both manufacturers and importers need to obtain INMETRO certification and register the LED light source products they sell in the Brazilian market.

In November 2005, SEC promulgated Certification Regulation No. No298:2005, aiming to establish rules for household appliances and similar products. Household appliance products are included in the scope of SEC mandatory certification. Products within the scope of mandatory certification must obtain a conformity certification code issued by a certification body authorized by the regulatory agency of the Chilean government before they can be sold in the market.
